When covering an artist that is a source of inspiration for you. It becomes quite a daunting task. Fally Ipupa, coming to Kenya? a few months ago that was my wish. When my friend Prince Kelly informed me that he was to perfom. At the MTV MAMA awards. I made a good effort to contain my excitement.
At the tribe hotel on the 9th of October 2009.During the press conference. Dicaprio tickled the audience with his charm and his lack of proficiency in speaking the English language. 'I sing, i dance, good!' .
Accompanied by his manager and translator Madina. They managed to overcome the hurdle. Madina informed members of the international press that. 'Fally will perfom his music based on Congolese dance and song.' said calm Madina.
Blue 3 from Uganda warmed up the stage for Dicaprio. Dicap set on stage perfoming his song 'Bicarbonate from his new album Arsenal de belles melodies. He only had one day to train with the Kenyan dancers. It is obvious after watching the video. That one of the dancers had a difficult time keeping up with Dicap's swift and boneless movements.
The crowd loved the song and Dicap being a great dancer took them to higher heights. 'Oriengo' was the dance style of the day. Dressed up in Kanye West designer sneakers for Louis Vuitton. Fally was fresh on stage. On completion of his set. Wyclef called out to Akon. Telling Akon 'You Kon man did you see that guy he moves like he got no bones!'.
